Welcome to sports at Lota State School
Active participation in sport is encouraged at Lota State School. Sport benefits the students’ physical well-being and helps develop their social skills through team sports.
Inter-house sport
Students are divided into 2 school houses - Flinders and Oxley.
There are 3 inter-house carnivals each year - swimming, cross country and sports day which includes track, field and peer support games.
Students participate individually and in teams to win points for themselves and their houses. The students with the highest points in each category from 9 years upwards win age champion medals. All students also compete to win the house cup.
Inter-school sport
Most Friday afternoons in Term 2 students in Years 4, 5 to Years 6 participate in an interschool sporting competitions and travel by bus to other local schools and community organisations. The emphasis at Lota State School is on participation.
Lota State School also offers Gala Days for other Interschool Sports Competitions throughout the school year inlucding Oz Tag and Basketball.
Representative Sport
Lota State School is affiliated with the Lytton District for Primary Schools. This means children are eligible for all representative sports whether or not the sport is played at the school. While the school automatically sends teams to swimming and athletics trials they may also nominate students for other sports. Requests from parents or students who are excelling in any sport are welcome and can be made to the Physical Education teacher.
