Homework gives students the opportunity to build upon their class work and involve family members in their learning. To help find a balance between family life and helping students reach their full potential, Lota State School has outlined expectations in this Homework Policy which sets out guidelines for homework, including the amount of time students should spend on homework each week.
  • In Prep Year – up to 30 minutes per week
  • In Years 1, 2, 3 up to one hour per week
  • In Years 4 & 5 – up to three hours per week
  • In Year 6 – up to four hours per week

At Lota State School, we have outlined our approach in the Homework Policy (PDF, 159KB) which was endorsed by the Parents and Citizens Committee after extensive consultation with parents, staff and students.

At Lota State School, we focus on the basics of reading, spelling and number study but also provide optional extras for students looking for further extension through the use of online sites. The links to these sites are below.
