Principal’s welcome

Welcome to Lota State School. Lota State School is a small school providing education for primary age students from Prep to Year 6. Located in the beautiful bayside suburb of Lota, just a 20 minute drive from Brisbane CBD, the school has an extensive history within the local area. Established in 1952 Lota State School has been extensively modernised in recent years through the Building Better Schools program and BER Programs.
The sense of community at Lota State School is nurtured through our values of ‘Happy, Safe and Learning’. Every student counts at Lota State School and everyone is valued. A signature program of our school is the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program, food education that teaches students to grow, harvest, prepare and share fresh, seasonal, delicious food. Our extensive extra-curricular program is unparalleled in the Wynnum-Manly area with opportunities for all of our students from Prep to year 6 to explore and develop their talents in the academic, sporting and performing arts arenas.
Current lunchtime clubs are: Environmental Club, Dance Club, Drama Club, Innovations Club and our Choir. Outside school hours we also offer Fitness Club, and our Lota Learners extension and enrichment program. A special feature is our Adventurers’ Club, which provides camping opportunities during the year for all students and their families.
To support the engagement of our families from birth to school we run a free weekly school-based playgroup. You and your younger children are welcome to attend and start to build those relationships with our families and the wider school community.
Thank you for making the decision to be part of our dynamic Lota learning community. I trust you will enjoy the wonderful experiences provided every day at our great school.
