Sports

 Interschool Sport

Most Friday afternoons in Terms 1 and 4 students in Year 5 - 6 participate in an interschool sports competition and travel by bus to other local schools. The emphasis at Lota SS is on participation. As an extra opportunity not offered by most local schools in our area, some students from Year 4 are invited to participate, depending on the resources available.

During Semester 1 sports offered are netball and soccer. During Semester 2 sports offered are softball and touch football. Weekly training sessions are held for   interschool sports teams during break times.

 Sports Day

Every year the school holds a sports day for students from Prep to year 6. Students participate  individually and in teams to win points for themselves and their houses. The students with the highest points in in each category from 11 years upwards win age champion medals. All students also compete to win the house cup.

 Representative Sport

Lota State School is affiliated with the Lytton District for Primary Schools. This means children are eligible for all representative sports whether or not the sport is played at the school. While the school automatically sends teams to swimming and athletics trials they may also nominate students for other sports. Requests from parents or students who are excelling in any sport are welcome and can be made to the PE  teacher.

Training

Training sessions are held weekly during sports seasons during and outside school hours. Information about current training sessions is sent out at the start of each term.
