Communication
Teachers at Lota State School are always willing to discuss student progress with parents. In order to ensure that the teacher can provide optimal attention to the discussion, please ensure that you make an appointment by contacting the teacher for a mutually suitable time.
We recommend that you discuss your preferred communication methods with your child’s teacher, early in the school year, so that both you and the teacher are aware of the best ways to stay in contact.
Please be assured that our staff will contact parents/carers immediately if they perceive the need to discuss you child’s progress or behaviour.
Parents/carers should feel free to contact the Principal to discuss matters of concern. Similarly, it is essential that you contact the office to make an appointment for a mutually suitable time. It is preferable that parents should always discuss educational matters with the relevant classroom teacher or specialist teacher before an appointment with the Principal is made.
Newsletters
The Lota State School newsletter is emailed to families every Friday and is also posted on the school’s website as soon as possible. The newsletter contains important information in regard to the activities and achievements of our school and reading it should become a regular part of your family's routine.
Parent-Teacher Reporting
Students and their parents/caregivers receive verbal reports at parent-teacher interviews in Term 1 and Term 3 and receive a written report at the end of Term 2 and Term 4. Our teachers also provide parents with additional opportunities to discuss their child’s progress throughout the year upon request. Further information about parent reporting is available from the school office.
