Young Leaders Program

Our school leaders at MBEEC.

Our student leaders were very fortunate to be given the opportunity to attend the Moreton Bay Environmental Education Centre to listen to Jillian Whiting (Channel 9 newsreader) present a 90 minute session to continue the development and enhancement of their presenting skills.

Jillian has worked for Channel 9 as a reporter and newsreader since 1996. She teamed with Bruce Paige in 2001 to present the state’s top rating 6pm news bulletin. After starting a family, Jillian moved to take up hosting the long running Queensland public affairs show, Extra in 2006, as well as Nine’s Gold Coast news bulletin. She returned to Channel Seven to take up the dream role as a presenter with the enormously successful travel show, Queensland Weekender. Jillian is currently presenting on The Great Day Out, is involved with promotional work as an MC and is a guest presenter. Jillian, in partnership with Suzanne Stark, a corporate coach and vocal expert, run the enormously successful Media Training School called Media Potential.

As a journalist and TV Presenter Jillian’s role is all about effective and confident communication. Together with her business partner Suzanne Stark, they assisted students to understand what it takes to present in an engaging and genuine manner to any audience.

Our leaders represented our school beautifully and we couldn’t be more proud of them.  We are looking forward to seeing them use their newly learned presentation skills on parade.
